How Virginia's Program Works
Virginia does not have a list of qualifying conditions. Your practitioner determines if cannabis may benefit your condition. Common examples include chronic pain, anxiety, PTSD, epilepsy, and cancer — but any condition may qualify.

Access Your Certification
Once certified, you access your written certification through the Virginia CCA Portal and can save or print it for dispensary use.

NEW PATIENTS

First-time Virginia certification. Your practitioner evaluates your condition and certifies you to the state.
RENEWALS
$75
Annual renewal for existing Virginia patients. Quick call, same great service.
Your certification is valid for up to one year and must be renewed annually.
Optional state registration: Virginia does not require a state-issued card to purchase medical cannabis. Patients may choose optional registration through the Virginia portal, but it is not required for dispensary access.

What's the difference between a new patient and a renewal?
New patients are being certified for the first time ($125). Renewals are for patients who have been previously certified and need their annual renewal ($75).
Can I use my VA certification in other states?
Some states have reciprocity agreements that may recognize Virginia certifications. Check with the specific state you plan to visit. We also certify in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and Michigan.
