The base cost of medical marijuana certifications is set partly by each state's regulatory environment. New patient pricing is the same in all three states ($95 with BEYONDNEW). Renewals are $45 in PA and OH but $50 in VA — and the VA renewal saves you more on paper ($25 off versus $5 off) because the Virginia regular renewal rate is higher. All three are among the most affordable certifications available in their states.

Yes. Pennsylvania and Ohio both have state portals where patients must register and pay the state fee to receive their card. Virginia's program works differently — your certification is documented through the Board of Pharmacy registry, and you can shop at Beyond Hello and other Virginia dispensaries with your state ID and certification documentation. Whichever state you're in, our portal support team helps you complete every step, not just the doctor visit.

Pennsylvania recognizes 23 qualifying conditions including chronic pain, anxiety, PTSD, cancer, Crohn's disease, epilepsy, MS, and opioid use disorder under specific criteria. Ohio recognizes 25+ conditions including chronic pain, PTSD, Alzheimer's, ALS, cancer, Crohn's, epilepsy, fibromyalgia, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, Huntington's, inflammatory bowel disease, MS, Parkinson's, sickle cell anemia, spinal cord injuries, and Tourette syndrome. Virginia changed in 2022 to allow medical cannabis certification for "any condition the practitioner determines may benefit" — the broadest qualifying criteria of the three states. Most patients can shop the same day or within 24-48 hours. In PA, a temporary digital card is issued after portal registration and state fee payment. In VA, you can shop with your state ID and certification documentation — no separate state-issued card required. In OH, you receive a temporary medical card after registering with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy and paying the state fee.

Several reasons. Medical patients typically pay lower taxes than adult-use customers (significantly lower in Ohio), can access higher purchase and possession limits, and may have access to specific products and potencies that aren't available on the adult-use menu. Medical certification also documents cannabis use in a clinical context, which matters for employment and healthcare situations. For regular users, the certification fee typically pays for itself within the first few purchases through tax savings alone.

Absolutely. Your medical marijuana card is valid at every licensed dispensary in the state where it was issued. Your card works statewide regardless of which dispensary you eventually visit.

Yes — Beyond Hello also operates in Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Nevada, and California. Green Bridge Society does not currently provide certifications in those states, so they are not listed on this page. If Green Bridge's service area expands, we'll update this page to include those locations.
