About the Partnership

Why Green Bridge Society works with RISE patients

RISE operates one of the largest dispensary footprints in the eastern US โ€” owned by publicly-traded Green Thumb Industries, with stores spanning eleven locations across Pennsylvania and Maryland in Green Bridge Society's service area. We're the certification side of that journey, getting patients their medical marijuana card so they can shop at any RISE location.

The Pennsylvania footprint is unusually broad: eight RISE stores anchor patient populations from Duncansville in Blair County (just down the road from Green Bridge Society headquarters in Tyrone) through Monroeville east of Pittsburgh, the West Shore Harrisburg corridor at Mechanicsburg, the south Harrisburg corridor at Steelton, the Pittsburgh North Hills at Cranberry, the Route 30 corridor at Latrobe, all the way up to Erie on Lake Erie and Hermitage on the Ohio border. Few dispensary chains cover this much of the Commonwealth.

The Maryland footprint adds three more stores: Bethesda in the DC metro, Hagerstown in Western Maryland, and Joppa in the Baltimore-area exurbs. For patients who live in PA but work in MD (or the reverse), the same partnership covers both states. Same RISENEW and RISERENEW codes work in either state.

Green Bridge Society has certified over 100,000 patients across ten medical cannabis states since 2018, with Pennsylvania as our home market. Our telehealth process is built for working adults: short online intake, a call window of your choosing, a licensed provider reviews your records and issues your certification, and we walk you through the state portal โ€” Pennsylvania's PA Department of Health portal or Maryland's MCA (formerly MMCC) system โ€” so registration doesn't become its own project.

Pennsylvania program reminders (PA patients): The PA program prohibits combustion/smoking โ€” use approved forms only (vaporization, vape cartridges, tinctures, capsules, topicals, concentrates). Keep your mailing address updated in the state portal to avoid card delays. Maryland has different rules โ€” your provider will cover the specifics for your state on the call.
Why Patients Choose RISE

RISE across Pennsylvania and Maryland

RISE has built one of the broadest dispensary footprints in the eastern US through parent company Green Thumb Industries. In Pennsylvania alone, eight RISE stores cover the Commonwealth from west to east: Duncansville in Blair County (anchoring central PA along the I-99 / US-220 corridor โ€” and just a few miles from Green Bridge Society's Tyrone headquarters), Monroeville on the east Pittsburgh suburbs, Mechanicsburg serving Harrisburg's West Shore (Cumberland County, near Camp Hill and Carlisle), Steelton south of Harrisburg in Dauphin County, Cranberry serving the Pittsburgh North Hills along Route 19, Latrobe in Westmoreland County's Route 30 corridor, Erie on Lake Erie along the Peach Street commercial strip, and Hermitage in Mercer County near the Ohio border.

The Maryland coverage spans three distinct markets: Bethesda in Montgomery County serves the DC metro and patients commuting in from Washington; Hagerstown in Washington County anchors Western Maryland along I-81 (convenient for patients in the Frederick area and the western panhandle); and Joppa in Harford County serves the northeastern Baltimore exurbs.

For patients who live in central or western Pennsylvania and travel to Maryland (or the reverse), the RISE ร— Green Bridge Society partnership covers both states with the same RISENEW and RISERENEW codes. Your medical marijuana card is valid in the state where it was issued โ€” Pennsylvania cards work statewide in PA, Maryland cards work statewide in MD โ€” but the certification process and discount partner pricing through Green Bridge Society is identical regardless of which state you call home.

Beyond geographic spread, RISE benefits from being part of Green Thumb Industries (GTI), one of the largest publicly-traded cannabis operators in the country. That scale tends to translate to broad product menus across multiple cultivator brands, consistent store experience across locations, and frequent loyalty rewards. For patients who shop multiple states or want predictable selection, RISE's MSO infrastructure is a real practical advantage.

Common Questions

RISE partner FAQ

Your discount is applied automatically when you book through this page. Use RISENEW for new patients or RISERENEW for renewals if prompted in the booking form. Same codes work in both Pennsylvania and Maryland.

Pennsylvania: New patients pay $95 (regularly $125), renewals pay $45 (regularly $50).

Maryland: New patients pay $95 (regularly $125), renewals pay $50 (regularly $75 โ€” Maryland renewals save $25).

Each state's Department of Health charges separate annual registration fees that go directly to the state, not to us.

Yes โ€” this is the part most patients get stuck on, and it's the part we built our practice around. We assist with logins, password resets, address verification, state fee payment, and any error messages the portal throws at you. Portal support is part of the certification, not a separate add-on.

Yes. Maryland uses the Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA, formerly MMCC) OneStop registration system, which has its own quirks compared to PA's portal. We walk MD patients through OneStop registration, MCA Patient ID number lookup, and the 120-day first-purchase window. More on the MD process here.

No โ€” medical marijuana cards are state-specific. A PA card works at PA dispensaries (including PA RISE stores); an MD card works at MD dispensaries (including MD RISE stores). If you split time between states, you would need separate certifications in each state where you want to legally purchase. The good news: the RISENEW and RISERENEW codes work in both states, so the discount applies whether you're certifying in PA, MD, or both.

Pennsylvania's medical marijuana program prohibits combustion/smoking of cannabis flower. Approved forms include vaporization of dry leaf, vape cartridges, tinctures, capsules, topicals, and concentrates. RISE and other PA dispensaries carry products in all of these approved forms.

No problem โ€” your provider will try you again and may follow up by text. Please keep your ringer on during your selected window. Calls can show up as "Unknown," "No Caller ID," or "Spam Risk" depending on your carrier, so don't screen those out. If we can't reach you at all, our team will email you to reschedule at no charge.

Pennsylvania recognizes 23 qualifying medical conditions including chronic pain, anxiety disorders, PTSD, cancer, Crohn's disease, epilepsy, MS, Parkinson's, sickle cell anemia, opioid use disorder under specific criteria, and several others.

Maryland uses a more flexible system where any condition that a physician believes may be relieved by cannabis can potentially qualify, including but not limited to severe pain, severe nausea, anxiety, PTSD, glaucoma, and others โ€” Maryland has a catch-all clause that Pennsylvania doesn't.

If you're unsure whether you qualify, your provider will discuss your conditions on the call.

Records help but aren't strictly required for every patient. If you have a recent diagnosis or documentation of an existing condition, upload it during intake โ€” it speeds the call along and gives your provider context. If you don't have records readily available, your provider will still discuss your medical history on the call and determine whether you qualify.

Most patients can shop the same day or within 24 hours of certification. After your doctor's call, your certification is submitted to the state portal โ€” once you complete portal registration and pay the state fee, you'll receive your card (digital or physical depending on the state). RISE accepts the digital card as soon as it's active in the state system.

Yes. Your medical marijuana card is valid at every licensed dispensary in the state where it was issued โ€” your card works statewide regardless of which dispensary you eventually visit.
