New patients pay $95 (regularly $125 — a $30 savings) and renewals pay $45 (regularly $50 — a $5 savings). The Pennsylvania Department of Health charges a separate $50 state registration fee that goes directly to the state, not to us. That fee is the same regardless of where you get certified.

Yes — this is the part most patients get stuck on, and it's the part we built our practice around. We assist with logins, password resets, address verification, the $50 state fee payment, and any error messages the portal throws at you. Pennsylvania's portal can be finicky, especially for first-time users, so we treat portal support as part of the certification, not a separate add-on.

No problem — your doctor will try you again and may follow up by text. Please keep your ringer on during your selected window. Calls can show up as "Unknown," "No Caller ID," or "Spam Risk" depending on your carrier, so don't screen those out. If we can't reach you at all, our portal-support team will email you to reschedule at no charge.

Pennsylvania currently recognizes 23 serious medical conditions including chronic pain, anxiety disorders, PTSD, cancer, Crohn's disease, epilepsy, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, sickle cell anemia, opioid use disorder (under specific criteria), and several others. If you're unsure whether you qualify, the intake form will ask about your conditions and your provider will discuss them on your call. The vast majority of patients who book end up qualifying.

Records help but aren't strictly required for every patient. If you have a recent diagnosis or documentation of an existing condition, upload it during intake — it speeds the call along and gives your provider context. If you don't have records readily available, your provider will still talk through your medical history on the call and determine whether you qualify. Don't let "I can't find my records" stop you from booking.

Most patients can shop the same day or within 24 hours of certification. After your doctor's call, your certification is submitted to the state portal — once you complete portal registration and pay the $50 state fee, Pennsylvania issues a temporary digital card that dispensaries accept. The physical card arrives by mail shortly after. Vytal Options accepts the digital card as soon as it's active in the state system.

Yes. All consultations are conducted through HIPAA-compliant telehealth infrastructure, and your records are handled under the same federal privacy standards as any in-person doctor visit. Your information is never sold, never shared with dispensaries, and never used for anything outside of your certification and any follow-up support you request.

Absolutely. Your Pennsylvania medical marijuana card is valid at every licensed dispensary in the Commonwealth — there's no requirement to shop exclusively at Vytal. Your card works statewide regardless of which dispensary you eventually visit.

To get a Pennsylvania medical marijuana card, you must be a Pennsylvania resident with a valid PA driver's license or state ID showing a Pennsylvania address. If you're a Penn State student with permanent residency in another state, you would need to either (a) establish PA residency and update your ID, or (b) check whether your home state has a medical program — we serve nine other states beyond PA, so it's worth asking. Universities set their own policies on cannabis use on campus property, and the federal regulatory picture is currently shifting around rescheduling, so check Penn State's most recent student conduct guidance before relying on your card on university grounds.
